Around the start of 2016 I was coming to the end of a chapter in my life and I was 250lbs, the heaviest and the most out of shape I have ever been. I was upset with myself and knew I needed a change. I went to have my yearly physical when my doctor told me that I had high blood pressure and a fatty liver. He told me that I had 3 months to lose weight and change my diet or I would have to start medication possibly for the rest of my life. This is what got me to reach out to Matt.
Matt and I were friends prior to this point in my life so I felt comfortable telling him my situation. I had been fit before so I knew what was required to get back in shape but I had no idea the six month journey that I was about to embark on. Matt was telling me about belief fitness and starting his online training business. At that time I was not very up to date on what exactly online training was but, I knew Matt and I believed in his abilities so I didn’t question him. I told him that I had zero left in the tank when it comes to motivation and I needed that strong tough love guidance that I used to receive via my old school football coaches back many years ago. Matt is very good at motivating and changing delivery methods depending on what his client’s personalities require. Mine happens to be one where I need to be yelled at to push that last rep and to not quit. We started our program on Feb 27th.
Two months went by and following the meal and macro plans as well as working out with Matt just 3 days a week, I was down to 230lbs and I was starting to feel better and see the beginning of progress.
Month three came and I was stalling out around 230-225lbs. I was talking to Matt about it and he continued to reassure me to just trust the process and stay the course. I listened. I also had my follow up Dr. appointment during this month and my blood pressure had returned to normal and I did not require any medication. This was a small victory for me!
At the end of month three I was at 220lbs and I was very excited because my goal was to get to 210 by the end of month six. However, 220 proved to be harder than 230 but again Matt continued reassuring me everyday that I got this and to just stay the course. Again….I listened.
On into months 4 and 5 people really started to tell me how much they were noticing my progress and that just made me want it more and more. My pants and shorts no longer fit so I had to buy new ones and my old XXL shirts looked like someone else’s clothes altogether. I was in a 36 waist pushing 38 when we started and now I was having to wear a belt in 32s. My shirt size dropped down to a large from XXL. And I was closing in on 215lbs.
Month six is finally here and I became very focused on the weight mark of 210 because I wanted to say I lost 40lbs in 6 months. I graduated high school at 205lbs so I just focused on that mark. However I am going to probably come in at 213 or 214 but one thing you have to realize is its not the scale you are chasing but your appearance. I am happier than I have ever been in my life. When I got down or I didn’t feel like it Matt motivated me and reminded me of our goals and the only one I would be cheating by quitting is myself. I have come very far in 6 months and if I can do it anyone can do it. The people who know me best will tell you that no one loves beer, burgers, pizza, and wings more than I do. But at some point you have to make a choice. Am I going to get serious and do something or am I going to just live fat and die early? Choosing Belief Fitness and believing in Matt was one of the smartest choices I have ever made. He truly is a great person and your goals become his goals. He will not let you fail!
